Lee Wiggins-CUPE 3903 subsidy fund

CUPE 3903 members normally enjoy a substantial subsidy that is provided by York University as a result of negotiations between the University and CUPE 3903. A set dollar amount is provided to the Centre each year and based on estimated usage by CUPE 3903 members for the coming year, the Centre’s Board of Directors establishes a conservative percentage to discount from each subsidized member’s monthly fees.

CUPE 3903 union and LWCC have a subsidy agreement that provides members a certain percentage off their childcare fees. Members must be the CUPE 3903 eligibility criteria for current or political membership, as outlined in Article 6. f) of the CUPE 3903 bylaws (“Any member whose employment terminates may maintain her membership for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of termination, and shall be considered a member in good standing”).

How to receive the discount

In order to receive the CUPE3903 discount, you must provide the Centre with a copy of their current CUPE3903 teaching contract or proof of current CUPE membership (i.e., a letter from the union stating you are a part of the union) via email. Each semester we will request an updated contract.

Subsidy for CUPE 3903 members for 2023/2024

CUPE subsidy amounts are subject to fluctuation, but typically range from 20% to 50% of monthly childcare costs. The number of CUPE users at LWCC and the amount of care they use will affect the amount of subsidy available. The CUPE subsidy will remain in effect as long as the CUPE subsidy funds are available and does not go below the $12.00 per day minimum as required from the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system

Currently, full-time and part-time families will be receiving 50% off their tuition.
